Abstract

The article deals with the problem of the formation of patriotism and media literacy as important components of civic consciousness and national identity in modern Ukrainian society. Patriotism is a systemic complex of feelings and beliefs related to love for the Motherland, its culture, history, and values, contributing to social stability and support of national unity. At the same time, media literacy is a key skill for critical interaction with the media space, countering disinformation and manipulation, and developing critical thinking. Samples of song creativity from the textbook on Ukrainian literature for the 7th grade of the author’s collective T. Yatsenko, V. Pakharenko, O. Slyzhuk, I. Trigub, demonstrate how literary and musical works become a source of formation of patriotism, national identity, pride in historical heritage and motivation for civic activity.
