The article is devoted to the problem of development of critical thinking in elementary school students in the process of studying of language and literature educational subjects. It provides the interpretation of critical thinking of students by Ukrainian scientists. The article also describes the role of language and
literature educational subjects in the formation of critical thinking of elementary school students. It is noted that one of the effective means of shaping children’s critical thinking is their linguistic creativity. The article also covers the techniques and technologies of development of critical thinking of elementary school students based on languistic material. The structure of the organization of creative activity of students for the purpose of formation of their critical thinking is described as well.
