THE IVANO-FRANKIVSK REGION UNIVERSAL SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY NAMED AFTER I. FRANKO`S EXPERIENCE IN ORDER TO POPULIZE THE SCIENTIFIC LEGACY OF ACADEMICIAN VOLODYMYR HRABOVETSKYI

Abstract

The article analyzes the longlasting cooperation of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast universal scientific library named after I. Franko with academician Volodymir Hrabovetskyi – the outstanding investigator of the Ukrainian history. It describes the popularization of the scientist’s researches of the regional history and famous historical persons of Ukraine and Ivano-Frankivsk region through different library forms, bibliography and Internet-resources, prepared by specialists of the oblast library. The main idea of the article is to show how the librarians try to introduce the historical legacy of the academician Volodymir Hrabovetskyi to the wide public opinion.

The librarians created the personal book collection of the works  of Volodymir Hrabovetskyi and compiled its bibliographical guide. This fund is used by scientists, students and  people who are interested in regional history. His books were included in several bibliographies on historical topics. Some presentations of V. Hrabovetskyi’s new works were organized in the main library of Ivano-Frankivsk region. The academician frequently took an active part in the librarian actions, meetings with different interesting persons.

Materials about life and scientific legacy of the historian were represented in the personal book exhibitions and Internet-guides, which were prepared by librarians. Some information can be found on the website of  Ivano-Frankivsk oblast universal scientific library. All new books of V. Hrabovetskyi were presented by librarians on radio and TV.

The active popularization of historical researches of V. Hrabovetskyi in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast universal scientific library named after I. Franko is continued. The librarian do their best to present the main works of the outstanding researcher of the Ukrainian history to all citizens of the region. To carry out this mission different library forms as book and virtual exhibitions, presentations, bibliography are used.
