Aim. Goal. Study of the problem of independent physical exercises as a means of increasing the physical fitness of high school students. Research methods. Motivation for independent sports and health activities was determined by a questionnaire. 100 lyceum students were divided into СG-50 people. and EG - 50 people. (average age 17.0±1.2 years). The ascertaining experiment consisted in identifying the motivation for independent classes, determining the level of theoretical knowledge and physical fitness. level of physical fitness of EG students. The results. The confirmatory experiment showed a low level of theoretical training of lyceum students, which determines their low motivation for independent studies. After the experiment, 66% of EG students showed a high level of motivation, which is closely correlated (r=0.89; p=0.0012) with an increase to 49.8% of lyceum students with an above-average level of physical fitness. Conclusions. 1. After the experiment, most lyceum students have a stable motivation for independent studies.
